Yes, boys and girls. Summer is definitely here to stay. We have here the endless evenings and warm days. Some can enjoy the beaches, others will settle for swimming. Many have benefits to make that trip to the dream you carry all year, others and we enjoyed our holiday and the only thing left is to try to evade otherwise. And what better way than a travel book? Visit distant lands, meet ancient cultures, and live countless adventures. All this and much more is what gives us the editorial Editions del Vento.

Although editions of the Wind have several editorials, the most important collection and sirocco wind known is dedicated to the travel narrative. But they are not any travel books, but focus on distant lands, especially Africa and Asia, and most are written by eminent writers of the nineteenth and twentieth century’s. Thus, we have stories of authors like George Orwell, Arthur Conan Doyle and Evelyn Waugh, to name a few. A different way to spend the vacations to know other countries.

In our winter Africa, for example, Arthur Conan Doyle tells us the five months he spent in South Africa, Mozambique, Rhodesia and Kenya with his wife and four children. It would be the last of his great journeys, intending to spread the ideas of the spiritualists who had become counsel. The steam house, however, is a novel by Jules Verne in which a trip to northern India, with the main purpose of hunting tigers, it becomes a wonderful adventure that we have used the French author.

The Knight of living is leading to the author, Somerset Maugham, who narrates in a hilarious journey he made in the thirties from Rangoon to Haiphong. On horseback, by boat or by car, the author should be writing little stories about the colorful characters that will get to know. But, as we see, there is also room for the novel in this collection, such as Nectar in a Sieve, Kamala Markandaya of India, considered a classic in his country and published in 1954, which narrates the life of the peasants Rumania and your hard struggle for survival in India in the last years of British occupation.
